Frequently Asked Questions
What to expect from therapy
I provide trauma therapy in Newberg and throughout Oregon that honors all aspects of your identity and works with your entire context.
Your healing does not need to look the same as anyone else’s.
Here’s some details on what that really means.
-
I will treat you with respect and consistent, compassionate care regardless of your sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, skin color, ethnicity, immigrant status, age, neurotype, disability, spiritual beliefs, and/or type of employment. Many of my clients tell me they’ve gone looking for therapy before and have felt unseen and unheard in those spaces. This is a rupture between you and the experience of therapy, or even at times medical care as a whole, and it is my deep honor to work together to repair that rupture.
Please note that I am unable to offer adequate support to those experiencing active suicidality, as I am a solo provider. I also am not a parent evaluator, and do not get involved in issues of child custody.
-
I work with kids and teens ages 12 and up. At this time, I don’t have a space that can support therapy for kids younger than 12.

My rate for a new client intake and for regular therapy sessions are the same: $120 per session. If you cancel within 24 hours of your session start time or do not show to your appointment, I will give you another 24 hours to respond, and then will charge $60 for the missed session. I will waive this fee if we are able to reschedule within 5 business days of the missed session.
If you are unable to pay the full $120 per session, I also offer sliding scale rates that we can agree on during your initial consultation. And if your financial situation dramatically changes further into treatment, we can always come back to it later.
Please note that I am private pay only, which means I provide a Good Faith Estimate to all clients as per the No Surprises Act.
-
I do not accept insurance at this time. I am able to offer a sliding scale to clients who need it, and I am able to provide a superbill to clients who want to seek reimbursement through their insurance.

Each therapy session lasts about 55 minutes. How many sessions you’ll need depends on your treatment goals as well as your life circumstances and how much energy you’re able to put toward therapy. When we first start out, I’ll schedule the first 4 sessions with you, and then we’ll assess how long to go from there once we have a better idea of your situation.
-
Therapy with me involves a blend of coping skills to help you stabilize, along with deeper work to help us get to the root of what’s really going on. Because we start with those coping skills up front, my clients often tell me they experience relief as early as the first 4 weeks. That’s why I like to schedule the first 4 sessions up front and on a weekly basis, so we can get you feeling a little more stable and can evaluate together where you want to go next.
-
I maintain several evening session times on my caseload, and if this is something you’re needing from therapy, we can work to make sure you have a spot that works for you. I do not see clients on weekends or on Mondays. My workdays are Tuesday through Friday.
-
Click the “work with me” button at the top of this page, or the “schedule your free consultation today” button at the bottom of this page to access my contact form. You’ll fill that out, and we’ll schedule a 15 minute phone call where we’ll talk logistics and decide if we’re a good fit. After that, I’ll send over some forms for you to fill out and sign, and then from there, we schedule our first session! At the first session, I’ll be asking a lot more questions and getting a better picture of your full context and circumstances, and we’ll be deciding how to approach therapy together.
I also want to say, because this is a concern I hear frequently, that you do NOT need to have your whole life story neatly together and articulated in order to start therapy. It’s MY job to help you begin telling your story, and it’s my job to write down and organize the information you tell me so I can give you the best care. It’s a collaborative process we work on together.

Yes and soon! I currently offer virtual appointments, and will be opening an in-person space in Newberg soon for people around Yamhill county to come in person. Let me know which you’re wanting when you reach out!

Group therapy is a fantastic way to connect with community members who are experiencing the same kinds of things you are, in a space that’s moderated by a trained therapist. I offer groups on a regular basis. To join one of my groups, check out the “Groups” page linked at the top of this web page, or bring it up with me in session.
If you’re wanting group therapy and I don’t currently offer the right group for you, I’ll also let you know if there are any other groups I know about in the area that might be a fit. I strongly believe in the transformative power of group therapy, and want everyone to experience it for themselves.

I am chronically ill myself, and my own experiences are part of why I’m so passionate about accessible care. I can’t promise that we’ll be the perfect fit, but I know how important it can be to know your therapist understands where you’re coming from.
